The Fort Vancouver Regional Library District, Library Foundation and Friends of the Battle Ground Library invite the public to celebrate the Grand Opening celebration of the new Battle Ground Community Library on Saturday, May 30th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The new 13,000 square foot library is located at 1207 SE 8th Way in Battle Ground Village, southeast of the intersection of Grace Ave. and Rasmussen Blvd. The new library offers nearly 10,000 more square feet of space than the current building. It features a reading room with a beautiful rock fireplace, and larger designated areas for adult literacy, young adults, children's books and activities, and computers. Plus, there's a community room that will be available for outside group use.
"This is the community's library, a gathering place that offers recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities," says Jackie Spurlock, Battle Ground Community Librarian. "It represents a coming together of local citizens to create a public institution that defines and showcases our community."
The Grand Opening celebration will begin at 2:00 p.m. with a flag-raising ceremony and ribbon cutting. The library doors will open at 2:45 p.m., after the ceremonial ribbon cutting, with refreshments, entertainment , activities for children and for patrons to sign up for library cards and check out books.
