[ARCHIVED] City Awarded for Worksite Wellness Program

The City of Battle Ground was recognized by the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) with the WellCity Award of Excellence for the City’s outstanding worksite wellness program for 2014. This is the 11th consecutive year the City has earned the award.

The AWC WellCity Award recognizes cities and towns that demonstrate best practices in employee health promotion by meeting the minimum criteria in each of nine WellCity standards - policies and procedures, leadership support, wellness committee, internal and external resources, needs assessment, worksite environment, operating plan, mix of program activities and evaluation.

City Manager John Williams recognized Deputy City Clerk Tamara Gunter who oversees the city’s wellness program, “Ms. Gunter’s efforts in providing wellness information and activities benefit the city as a whole as well as individual staff members.”

Cities who earn the WellCity Award benefit by a reduction in the cost of AWC employee health coverage; the award has saved the City of Battle Ground approximately $24,800 in the last 3 years. Other benefits include improved morale, increased productivity and reduced use of sick leave, compensation claims and health care utilization and costs.
