[ARCHIVED] Battle Ground Officer Awarded with Distinguished Service Medal

Sgt Jason Perdue Receiving Award

Battle Ground Police Sergeant Jason Perdue has been awarded one of the department’s highest recognitions for duties performed as a member of the Regional SWAT team.

In March of 2014, the Regional SWAT team, of which Sgt. Perdue is a member, was dispatched to a residence in Ridgefield where it was confirmed that an armed and dangerous fugitive was hiding. The suspect had a history of violence and was wanted on multiple felony charges. After several hours of negotiations urging the suspect to surrender, he emerged from the residence armed with a weapon and confronted officers. The suspect refused orders to disarm and threatened officers with his weapon at which time the officers were forced to stop the threat. The suspect later died from his injuries. No officers or citizens were injured during the incident.

For his exemplary and heroic performance in a hazardous situation, while protecting the community and his fellow officers, Sgt. Jason Perdue was awarded the Battle Ground Police Department’s Distinguished Service Medal.

Sgt. Perdue has been with the Battle Ground Police Department since 2002 and has served as a member of the Regional SWAT team since 2008.
