Truck routes within the city limits of Battle Ground have been established and will go into effect January 1, 2015.
Trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 pounds will be restricted to city streets designated as truck routes as identified in the ordinance with the exception of trucks used for emergency, sanitary, maintenance, or other public purposes or for trucks utilizing the most direct route to and from a designated location for the purpose of pick up or drop off unless sign posted otherwise.
Public Works Director Scott Sawyer said “the purpose of establishing truck routes is to reduce cut-through commercial traffic in residential neighborhoods reducing ambient noise levels as well as damage by commercial vehicles to streets in residential areas”.
