On the evening of May 18th, Battle Ground City Council recognized 15 young men and women from the community who have committed to serve in the United States Armed Forces. Each enlistee in attendance was introduced and spoke about his or her education, military assignment, goals, and family members, many of whom who were in attendance.
The council’s recognition of these young men and women comes during Military Appreciation Month, designated by Congress to ensure that the nation was given the opportunity to publically demonstrate their appreciation for the sacrifices and successes made by our service members.
“This is a big step in the lives of these young people,” noted Deputy Mayor Philip Johnson, “It is important that their community is behind them in this endeavor.”
