[ARCHIVED] Do you recognize this Vietnam Veteran?

Wayne Richard Pollard

The BG Park Advisory Board is seeking the public’s help in identifying whether Vietnam Veteran Wayne Pollard lived in the Battle Ground community; confirmation would place his name as an honored veteran on Battle Ground’s Veterans Memorial. He served in Vietnam as member of the U.S. Marine Corps and died in service at the age of 25 on October 13, 1967.

Born in 1942, Wayne Richard Pollard lived in and graduated from high school in Darrington, WA, but may have attended Battle Ground High School for a short time between the years of 1955 and 1960. He also had ties to the Camas and La Center areas - relatives included his widow, Rachel of Camas; a son, Richard; a daughter Rita; and parents who lived in La Center.

Members of the Park Advisory Board, who research names of local veterans who have died in service, have been unable to locate family members or records that confirm Wayne Pollard’s residency in the Battle Ground community. If you have any information that could help place him in the local area, please contact Battle Ground Parks & Recreation Director Debbi Hanson at debbi.hanson@cityofbg.org or at 360-342-5385.
