We have had some calls reporting discolored water. The discoloration was due to the storm related power surge to water pumps. If you are experiencing discolored water, flush the system by running water from your tap until it runs clear.
We are seeing commercial enterprises, offering a variety of post-tornado services, by commenting on our website. The City is not associated with nor do we endorse any of these businesses. Please take time to vet businesses or contractors who offer services. A valid business or contractor will be appropriately licensed and/or bonded and have a City of BG Business License. You may call us at 360-342-5047 to confirm that a business is licensed in the city.
If you have damage to your house or yard from the tornado, the City of BG is here to answer your questions and help get you on track for repairs and cleanup. We want to make this process as easy and painless as possible for everyone affected. If you have damage to your siding, roof, or fencing please move forward with the necessary repairs. We are waiving permit requirements for these items in an effort to expedite the process and make things easier for the homeowners. Please make sure that the replacement is within City guidelines, if you are not sure what they are please contact the Building Department at (360) 342-5046. If you have structural damage to your home or building this will need to be permitted and approved prior to reconstruction; our first priority is your safety. If you have any cleanup that needs to occur within a stream or known critical area, please contact the Community Development Department at (360) 342-5047 prior to beginning work.
The city is working with several sources to provide areas for tornado-affected residents to dispose of debris. Two dumpsters, donated by H & H Wood Recycling, for woody debris are located at: SW 18th St and S. Parkway and at SE 5th Ave and SW Rasmussen. Battle Ground Rockery, located at 917 East Main St. will accept, for no charge, any wood debris including fencing, treated wood, and tree limbs. Their hours are 8am – 4pm, Monday – Saturday. You may call them at 360-666-6718. Within the next hour, there will be two Waste Connection dumpsters at Kiwanis Park; one for woody debris and one for all other debris. Kiwanis Park is located at 422 SW 2nd Ave. Many thanks to these sources for helping our Battle Ground residents!
