City Manager Jeff Swanson

Battle Ground City Manager Jeff Swanson took his official oath of office when he arrived at City Hall on the morning of Friday, April 1st, his first full day on the job. At last night’s City Council meeting, in front of council, staff, family and friends, Battle Ground’s new City Manager took the oath again, ceremonially.

Mr. Swanson was appointed by City Council to serve as City Manager after a 4-month recruitment process. He comes to the City of Battle Ground from Clark County where he served as Director of Economic Development. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Systems Science from Portland State University after earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, two Graduate Certificates (Environmental and Natural Resource Economics; Computer Modeling and Simulation), and a Master's Degree in Economics.

“I am humbled and excited to join the excellent team of employees and elected councilmembers at the City of Battle Ground,” he said, “and look forward to engaging with the community on important long term issues like growth, development and delivery of municipal services. It is a great opportunity to join the city at this time.”

In accordance with the City of Battle Ground’s adopted Council-Manager Plan of Government, the City Manager serves as chief administrator for the city and is responsible for the execution of City Council’s legislative polices and budget goals, for the appointment and direction of department directors, and for the daily operations of the city.
