[ARCHIVED] Harvest Days Pancake Breakfast - Firefighters serve up breakfast for family in need

FD3 Pancake Breakfast and Open House

Rise and shine for the Harvest Days Pancake Breakfast! The city’s new fire service partner, Fire District 3, is bringing their special brand of Pancake Breakfast and Open House to the Battle Ground Fire Station on Harvest Days morning, Saturday, June 16. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit an 11 year-old Battle Ground boy in need of a wheelchair.

Shriner’s Hospital for Children has been treating 11 year-old Jack (a pseudonym; his family has asked for anonymity) for several years of his young life. Jack’s condition is such that he needs his own wheelchair, an expense that the family has been unable to bear. Fire District 3, who has been helping families in need through their annual Pancake Breakfast in Hockinson for 28 years, wants to do the same in Battle Ground.

Clark County Fire District 3’s service area expanded to the City of Battle Ground this year when the city contracted with them for fire and emergency medical services.

“Each one of us at Fire District 3 is so honored to serve this community,” said Fire Chief Steve Wrightson, “We invite everyone to the breakfast and open house to get to know us and the services we provide, and to join us in supporting this family.”

The Battle Ground Fire Station will be open for tours and guests will have the opportunity to meet firefighters and see apparatus and equipment up close. The all-you-can eat breakfast (pancakes, eggs and ham with coffee and orange drink) will be served from 7:00 – 9:30 am. Individual tickets, at the door, are $5 or you can feed the entire family for $15.

The Battle Ground Fire Station (at 511 SW 1st Street) is conveniently located just one block south of the Harvest Days parade route, so come out for breakfast, stake out your parade spot, and wave to the FD3 firefighters as they drive the Battle Ground engine through the parade!
