The Battle Ground City Council appointed two new members at the July 18 council meeting. Mr. Brian Munson was appointed to vacant Position No. 1 and Ms. Cherish DesRochers was appointed as Pro Tem to Position No. 6. Mr. Munson and Ms. DesRochers were two of five applicants for appointment to the Battle Ground City Council when Position No. 1 became vacant on June 1st after the resignation of Lyle Lamb.
Councilmember Munson will serve the remainder of Position No. 1’s term which expires in December of 2017. Prior to his appointment to City Council, Mr. Munson served as a member of the City’s Planning Commission, most recently as the commission’s Chair.
Councilmember Pro Tem DesRochers was appointed by City Council to serve in Position No. 6 temporarily while Councilmember Bill Ganley, who has served in the position since 1994, is on extended leave. Ms. DesRochers also served as a member of the City’s Planning Commission prior to her appointment to serve as Councilmember Pro Tem.
The Battle Ground City Council is a seven-member board responsible for the legislative function of the city such as establishing policy, passing local ordinances, approving budget appropriations, and developing an overall vision.
