Anyone with expired or unneeded medications may dispose of them between 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Battle Ground Police Station located at 507 SW 1st Street in Battle Ground. Disposal is convenient and safe as participants will simply drive-thru and drop-off their medications.
All medications, prescription or over-the-counter, in pill, liquid or inhaler form will be accepted. Vaping devices and e-cigarettes, with batteries removed, will also be accepted. Sharps and syringes are not accepted at the Battle Ground location, but are accepted at the PeaceHealth Southwest Urgent Care located at 33rd & Main in downtown Vancouver.
Medications may be delivered in their original container, but it is not necessary. Liquid medications should be delivered in spill proof containers with a secure lid.
Appropriate disposal of prescription and over-the-counter drugs helps keep homes and the community safe by reducing accidents, thefts, and the misuse and abuse of medications. The most common drugs misused by teens and adults come from family and friends’ home medicine cabinets. Drug disposal is also an environmental concern. Unused medications should never be flushed down the toilet or put in the trash; improperly disposed of medications can easily contaminate water systems.
