How to keep a violation off a driving record with a deferred finding
To qualify for the program:
- Pay a non-refundable administrative fee equal to the ticket amount or $150 whichever is less
- Commit no additional traffic violations for 12 months from the date of the deferred finding
- An individual may not have received a deferred finding in the prior 7 year period
- Early Dismissal: Upon receipt of payment of the administrative fee the ticket will be dismissed so long as no additional infractions have been committed
The court will retain the infraction for 12 months and if the administrative fee is paid and no other violations have been committed, the infraction will be dismissed and will not be reported to Washington State Department of Licensing (DOL).
Failure to pay the administrative fee and/or receiving an additional infraction during the 12 month period will cause:
- The ticket will be reported to DOL
- The original amount of the ticket will be due and payable in addition to the administration fee previously assessed
- A collection fee may be assessed for license suspension
A driver may only receive 1 deferred finding every 7 years and those drivers possessing a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may not participate in the program.
